Forming New College Chapters
from SAI College Extension Guidelines, 2007 edition:
ΣAI chapters may be established in accredited schools of music, conservatories, or in departments of music in colleges and universities. Music curriculums are accredited by one of the following accrediting agencies:
- Association of American Universities;
- New England, Middle States , North Central, Southern or Northwestern Associations of Colleges and Secondary Schools;
- American Association of Teachers Colleges;
- National Association of Schools of Music.
The music department/school must offer a four-year degree-granting curriculum in music, music theory, musicology, composition, music therapy, music education, jazz studies, music business, or musical theater.
The music department/school must have an enrollment of twenty-five ( 25 ) women music majors and/or minors who are eligible for membership in ΣAI. ...
The organizing colony located at schools where a chapter of either Delta Omicron or Mu Phi Epsilon music fraternities exist, who wish to petition ΣAI, must follow the guidelines of the Shared Campus Agreement. ΣAI extension activities may not begin on these campuses until appropriate procedures are completed and all requirements are met at the national level. The National President of ΣAI implements the initial extension correspondence on shared campuses.
