Sacco was a recipient of many awards and grants, such as the National Endowment for the Arts (1974), Ford Foundation Recording Fund, National Foundation for the Arts, and ASCAP, from which he had received an annual stipend award since 1967. He was listed as composer in Grove's Dictionary of Composers, Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Composers, International Biographical Society (Cambridge, England), and Contemporary American Composers (a biography compiled by H.W. Jacobi). Sacco wrote over 300 works for most forms, including jazz songs, jazz instrumental pieces and opera. Sixteen of those were for orchestra and string orchestra. Peter Sacco composed and performed music in the jazz idiom all his life. The Introduction and Divertimento was composed especially for The Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra. Recordings A complete P. Peter Sacco CD recording took place in Prague in November 1998, with Dr. Paul Freeman conducting the National Czech Symphony Orchestra.
