Biography
Raymond Weidner began formal piano study at the age of six, organ at fourteen, and held first musical directorship at sixteen. As an organist he performed on the famous Wanamaker organ at the age of seventeen, has given recitals throughout the United States, and performed at Salisbury Cathedral, England. As a choral director, he was founder-director of the Grand Rapids Chamber Choir in Grand Rapids, Michigan and the Ars Nova Ensemble in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and served as a clinician at the Presbyterian Association of Musicians and the Association of Disciples Musicians national conventions. He was also Music Director of the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra in Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Weidner studied/performed under: Leonard Bernstein, Sir Arthur Bliss, Wilhelm Ehmann, Sir Malcolm Sargent, William Steinberg, Leopold Stowkowski, Alfred Wallenstein, and Sir David Willcocks
Degrees earned: B.Mus. (Westminster Choir College), M.Mus. (Western Michigan University), and Ph.D. (Michigan State University). He haw authored two books; one for children entitled, The Journey of Benjamin Hopper (Severn-Charterhouse Press).
