Dr. Rosenhaus is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Composition at New York University (NYU), and also serves on the faculty at Nassau Community College.  He holds a Ph.D. from NYU, as well as M.A. and B.A. degrees from Queens College, C.U.N.Y.; his composition mentors included George Perle, and Hugo Weisgall.  Dr. Rosenhaus has conducted a wide variety of service, professional, amateur, and educational instrumental and choral groups, including the 108th Army Reserve Band, the U.S. Naval Academy Band, the United Choral Society (2001-2002) and, in 1998, the New York premiere of Sussex Celebration for orchestra on the main stage at Carnegie Hall.  He currently has over one hundred original works and arrangements in print with E.F. Kalmus, Alfred Publishing, Music-Print Productions, and others; recordings of his works can be found on the Richardson, Capstone, Music for a G'Day, and MPP labels.

Steven's recent works include The Brave and the Bold for concert band, Undercurrents for saxophone quartet; In the Cave of Aeolus for flute quartet; Symphony for Band ("Academy"); Waltz Rhapsody for piano; music for the film Ashes by David Mack (Infinity Dog Productions); incidental music for the play Secrets of Columbine by Lance Laytner; and the musical Free-the-Music.Com (script and lyrics by William Strauss, music by Bo Ayars and Steven Rosenhaus).

The book "Writing Musical Theater" by Allen Cohen and Steven L. Rosenhaus is published by Palgrave/Macmillan. William Squier's review for MusicalWriters.Com calls the book an "appealing....practical guide for beginning and journeymen writers....[It is] thorough without being condescending and detailed without being overwhelming."
