Following Miss Ritchey's death in 1931, the Convention body of that year in Minneapolis voted to rename the Student Aid Fund "The Hazel E. Ritchey Loan Fund" in recognition of her far-reaching and innovative contributions to the Fraternity.
Project Description
Hazel E. Ritchey Loans at an interest rate of 5% are available to members of Sigma Alpha Iota, who are in good financial standing with the Fraternity, as follows:
- Loan of up to $2,500 to support education leading to an undergraduate or a graduate degree in music.
- Loan of up to $2,500 to purchase a musical instrument.
- Loan of up to $2,500 for study at a summer music festival in the United States or abroad.
- Loan of up to $2,500 for special applied music lessons or coaching.
Payments may be deferred up to two years while still a full-time student. Repayment of the principal must begin immediately upon the recipient's gradutaion.
