Greg A. Steinke
Greg A. Steinke has a 1998-99 visiting
appointment teaching theory and composition in the Northern
Arizona Univ. School of Performing Arts, in Flagstaff.
At the Second International Conference of the LYRICA
Society for Word-Music Relations at Northern Arizona
Univ., Oct. 1-3, 1998, he moderated two sessions: "Music
in Theatre," and "Sacred Music: Dramaturgical Bridges
to and from the Soul." His ASCAP Standard Award has
been renewed for 1998-99. In 1998-99, he performed as
oboist with the Flagstaff Symphony several times. In
Dec. 1998, Allyn & Bacon released his book Bridge
to Twentieth-Century Music, 2nd Ed.
Premieres
Ball State Univ. musicians Keith Sweeger
and Robert Palmer premiered Memories of Chief Joseph
II, for bassoon and piano, at the regional College
Music Society conference in Ohio, Feb. 1999.
Performances
In 1997, the Coolidge Quartet of Hartford,
CT played Native American Notes in Hartford (Mar.)
and at the October Music Festival in Hong Kong (Oct.).
Inquietude, for flute, was heard at the SCI Region
VIII Conference, Nov. 21, 1997 at the University of
Montana.
