Annual American Composers Update
John Anthony Lennon
John Anthony Lennon is on the faculty of Emory Univ.,
in Atlanta, GA. Recently, he has received commissions
from the National Federation of Teachers, for a work for
piano, violin, viola, and cello; from Debra Richtmeyer,
for a soprano saxophone and harp piece for the World Saxophone
Congress in Montreal; and from Richard Nunemaker of the
Houston Composers Alliance, for clarinet duets. The Centre
D'Art Marnay Art Center (CaMac) in France has asked Lennon
and his wife, Camille Goebel, to be resident artists this
coming year to create a sound garden.
Premieres
During spring and summer 1999, Lennon had performances
of new works for guitar at International Guitar Festivals
in Darwin, Australia; Bath, England; and Dundee, Scotland.

David Tanenbaum presented
As She Sings and
Forbidden
Dances in Dinkelbuehl, Schloss Reimlingen, Schorndorf,
and Iserlohn, all in Germany. Other performances have
occurred in Portland, Las Cruces, Tucson, Oakland, and
Baltimore. Last winter, the Millennium Festival at Juilliard
included
Sirens (

F. Peters), for piano trio.
