Annual American Composers Update
K Marie Stolba
K Marie Stolba**, a resident of Fort Wayne, IN, where
she is Professor Emerita at Indiana Univ.-Purdue Univ.
Fort Wayne (IPFW), works from her home and gives residencies
at colleges and universities. Her most recent residencies
are at Colorado Christian Univ., in Lakewood, Oct. 12-18,
1999, including a lecture entitled "Unlocking Ancient
Egyptian Music Notation." (Oct. 15); and at Monmouth Coll.,
in Illinois, Mar. 6-10, 2000, where she will lecture on
"The Feminine Influence in Music," (Mar. 7) and will hear
some of her compositions performed. On Nov. 16, 1999,
she lectured on "The Feminine Influence in Music," for
Chapter CX of the Indiana P.E.O. Sisterhood. She continues
to work on her SAI comprehensive history, which she hopes
to complete in spring 2000.
Premieres
The North Highlands Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir
presented
Communion, a choral anthem with organ,
at WorldWide Communion Services, Oct. 3, 1999. While in
residence at Monmouth Coll., Stolba will hear several
of her choral works and solos performed, including the
premiere of her cantata
Prophecy with the college's
Concert Choir, Mar. 2000.

The Fort Wayne SAI Alumnae Chapter's "Music of American
Women Composers" concert, July 7, 1999 at the Fort Wayne
Art Museum, included

Wayne Alumnae Chapter Chorale, directed by Adrienne Provanzano,
with Ann Donner, flute, and Marty Johnson, piano; and
Reflections, with SAI National President Virginia
Johnson, soprano, accompanied by pianist Dona Longbons.
