Annual American Composers Update
Roberta Bitgood
Roberta Bitgood*, who makes her home in Quaker Hill, CT,
serves as Director of Music at Crossroads Presbyterian
Church in Waterford, CT. In honor of her 90th birthday,
in January 1998, the church dedicated its McNeely organ
to her, attaching a bronze inscription to the console.
Her 1998 awards included the Connecticut Coll. Alumni
Tribute Award and The American Guild of Organists (AGO)
President's Award (June 29), in recognition of her lifetime
commitment and service to the Guild and her career as
a church musician, concert artist, composer, and teacher.

The American Organist reported
the AGO award.
Performances
At her 70th reunion at Connecticut Coll., the college
invited her to play a program of her own music as the
prelude for the annual Service of Remembrance.
