Annual American Composers Update

Roberta Bitgood

Roberta Bitgood*, who makes her home in Quaker Hill, CT, serves as Director of Music at Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Waterford, CT. In honor of her 90th birthday, in January 1998, the church dedicated its McNeely organ to her, attaching a bronze inscription to the console. Her 1998 awards included the Connecticut Coll. Alumni Tribute Award and The American Guild of Organists (AGO) President's Award (June 29), in recognition of her lifetime commitment and service to the Guild and her career as a church musician, concert artist, composer, and teacher. The Aug. 1998 issue of The American Organist reported the AGO award.

Performances

At her 70th reunion at Connecticut Coll., the college invited her to play a program of her own music as the prelude for the annual Service of Remembrance.
