Allen Brings
Allen Brings is Professor of Music at the Aaron Copland
School of Music at Queens College (CUNY), where he is
coordinator of the theory and ear training program. He
is also a co-director of the Weston (CT) Music Center
and School of the Performing Arts. He has been elected
vice-president of Connecticut Composers, Inc.
Premieres
Heard first at Queens College in 2000 were
Duologue,
for flute and oboe, and
Duologue 2, for oboe and
clarinet, with members of the Renaissance Wind Quintet
at a concert presented by The Long Island Composers Alliance,
Feb. 9, 2000; and
Canzonet, for soprano, clarinet,
and cello, with Therese Ludwig, Jaime Gluck and James
Montalbano, May 5, 2000.
Performances
, for solo oboe, was performed by Kevin Schilling
at Iowa State University in Ames, Oct. 10 and 16, 1999.
Hui-Chin Huang, Yan-Wen Chou and Yi-Chia Lin played
Colloquies,
for flute, clarinet and piano, at National Kaohsiung (Taiwan)
Normal University, Dec. 29, 1999. On Jan. 9, 2000 in Stamford,
CT,
A Cradle Song was presented by Joanne Wallace,
soprano, and Elizabeth Lauer, pianist. A Long Island Composers
Alliance concert at the C. W. Post campus of Long Island
University, Mar. 2, 2000, included
Sonatine, with
Brings at the piano.
