In Apr. 2000, Arthur Gottschalk scored the feature film
Dreams in the Attic, starring Shelley Duvall, for
HBO Films.
Premieres
Contrary Variants, for flute and electroacoustic
sounds, was introduced Jan. 28, 2000 at a Galveston Artists
Guild program, with Merrie Siegel. The premiere of
Shall
we Gather occurred Mar. 31, 2000 at Sam Houston State
University, with Scott Plugge, alto saxophone. On July
27, 2000, the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble of Houston,
TX danced to the first performance of
The Fountains,
for trumpet and tape, with Reynaldo Ochoa, trumpet. Heard
first in 2000 at Rice University, in Houston, TX, were
American Nights, three movements for piano, violin,
and bassoon, with Milton Laufer, Heather LeDoux, and Cheryl
Laufer, Jan. 27; and
Tricolor, for symphonic band,
with the Houston Concert Band, Robert Cesario conducting,
June 18.
Performances
After the premiere,
American Nights received another
performance at Rice University, Oct. 12, 2000 with Edith
Orloff, Jennifer Owen, and Benjamin Kamins. Other 2000
