Annual American Composers Update
Alan Shulman
Parnassas Recordings has released a CD of a 1947-50 recording
that Alan Shulman made as part of the Stuyvesant String
Quartet.
Performances
Under the baton of Luis Biava,
Theme and Variations
was performed by Cathy Basrak, viola, and the Philadelphia
Orchestra at the Academy of Music, Mar. 2000. The Maverick
Concerts, in Woodstock, NY, included
Suite Miniature,
Two Pair, and
Pastorale, Sept. 3, 2000. Heard
at an all-Shulman program at the Pleshakov Music Center,
in Hudson, NY, were
Rendezvous, Mood in Question, Allegro,
and
Intermezzo and Scherzo, as well as shorter
works, Nov. 5, 2000. On Sept. 22, 2000, the Pone Ensemble
played
Intermezzo and Scherzo in New Paltz, NY.
