Annual American Composers Update
Brian Fennelly
"Now professor emeritus at New York University, I continue
as co-director of the Washington Square Contemporary Music
Society. Recent commissions have been from the Fromm Foundation
for
Velvet and Spice, premiered by the American
Brass Quintet in Mar. 2000, and from the Koussevitsky
Foundation for
Arias and Intermezzi (String Quartet
No. 2) for the Pro Arte Quartet (in progress). In spring
2000, the Polish Radio National Orchestra under Joel Suben
recorded three orchestral works for future CD release:
Chrysalis, Thoreau Fantasy No. 2 (Ambrosial Mornings),
and
Reflections/Metamorphoses. On Sept. 8, 2000
a 75-minute profile of my music was aired on Brave New
Music on WMHT-FM (Schenectady, NY)."
