Annual American Composers Update
Donna Kelly Eastman
Donna Kelly Eastman** works at her home studio in Springfield,
VA, a suburb of Washington, DC. On Feb. 20-21, 1999, she
was a featured composer at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair
in Bethesda, MD. She held a residency in Grinnell, IA
working with a high school choir and interested students
on a group composition project, Sept. 21-Oct. 2, 1999.
Premieres
At the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution,
the Kirkwood Flute Ensemble gave the first performance
of
Exhibition Revisited, for flute quartet, Mar.
10, 1999 in Washington, DC. In 1999, after premiering
Voyager's Prayer at Augustana Lutheran Church,
in Denver, CO, June 5, the Denver Columbine Chorale, led
by Richard and Brian Eichenberger, toured Poland, the
Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and Germany with the
work, June 10-27.
Performances
The Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair, Feb. 20-21, 1999, included
Just Us, for flute and mezzo-soprano, with Linda
Eagleson and Lee Beaudoin; and
Exhibition Revisited,
with the Kirkwood Flute Ensemble.
Scenes for Piano,
played by Jackie Edwards-Henry, was on the Forum program
of the Southeastern Composers League at Mississippi State
University, in Starkville, Feb. 25-28, 1999.
