Annual American Composers Update
Dika Newlin
On Nov. 16-22, 1999, Dika Newlin** gave a week-long residency
on Arnold Schoenberg at Texas Tech University, in Lubbock,
TX. It culminated on Nov. 22, her 76th birthday, when
she gave a costumed performance of
Pierrot, using
her own English translation, with the Texas Tech New Music
Ensemble, Steven Paxton, director. Her recordings and

or through various retail outlets. On Nov. 22, 2000, her
video
Call Me Dika! and CD
Call Me Dika!, Vol.
1 (with material not on the video) were released to
celebrate the composer's 77th birthday. In addition, she

Dika: Y2K.
