Annual American Composers Update
Elizabeth Lauer
Elizabeth Lauer has been informed
by the Renée Fisher Foundation that she has been
chosen to compose the required junior-level piece for
the organization's 2001 piano competition. The commission
includes a cash award ($1,000), and Lauer will participate
with the panel of judges in choosing the prizewinning
performance of her work. On Jan. 10, 2000, she gave a
talk entitled "The Music Business and the Business of
Music," to the Professional Women's Collective, a Fairfield
County (CT) group. For the fourth consecutive year, she
has been engaged for the spring and summer of 2000 to
serve as program annotator for the eight-concert spring/summer
series of chamber music programs sponsored by South Shore
Music, Inc., of Westport, CT. On Mar. 20, 2000, Lauer
gave a piano recital at the Donnell Library, in New York,
NY, including her own works as well as compositions by
Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel, and Granados.

Quatorze Miniminiscules Faciles, 14 10-second pieces
for flute, clarinet, cello, and piano, were presented
