Elliott Schwartz
Premieres
Elliott Schwartz's Kaleidoscope,
for violin, contrabassoon, and piano, premiered at Festival
Miami as part of an all-Schwartz concert at the University
of Miami, Nov. 1999. At the Cleveland (OH) Chamber Symphony
Halloween concert, Edwin London led the first performance
of Jack O'Lantern, Oct. 2000. Under the baton
of Richard Hoenich, Kenneth Rudnofsky and the New England
Conservatory Orchestra introduced Mehitabel's Serenade,
for solo saxophone and orchestra, Dec. 2000 in Boston.
Performances
The Longitude New Music Ensemble gave
a performance of Spectrum, for French horn, cello,
and tuba, at the Longy School of Music, Feb. 2000 in
Cambridge, MA. The American Music Festival, held at
the Museum of Modern Art in Strasbourg, France, included
Vienna Dreams, for viola, clarinet, and piano,
Apr. 2000. As part of the Composers Concordance Series,
Tapestry, for piano, violin, and cello, was heard.
A program at Conway Hall, in London, England, featured
the Kreutzer Quartet in Schwartz's string-quartet work
Bellagio Variations, July 2000. Music performed
at an all-Schwartz concert at the Kristinsson Conservatory,
in Reykjavik, Iceland, were Jet Piece, Music for
Audience and Soloist, A Garden for RKB, and Souvenir.
