Jere Hutcheson's
Caricatures III (musical caricatures
of Salvadore Dali, Sammy Davis Jr., Gertrude Stein, Stephen
King, Felix Mendelssohn, Marcel Duchamp, Kurt Vonnegut,
Alexander Calder, and Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakoff) was premiered
by the Michigan State University Wind Symphony, John Whitwell,
conductor, on Nov. 10, 2000. The Great Lakes Saxophone
Quartet were scheduled to introduce
Three Notions
during winter 2001. In Mar. 2001, mezzo-soprano Suzanne
Stevens Aaron will give the first performance of
Mrs.
Dalloway's Party (four songs with texts from Virginia
Woolf's novel
Mrs. Dalloway).
Performances
Passacaglia, for symphonic band, was played by
the Governer's School East of North Carolina wind ensemble
during summer 1999.
Caricatures had performances
with the Larvik (Norway) School of Music wind band, Odd
Terje Lysebo, conductor, Oct. 17, 2000; and with a California
State University Northridge wind ensemble, led by David
Whitwell, Dec. 3, 1999.
