Jan Krzywicki
SAI Friend of the Arts Jan Krzywicki won the New Music
Delaware Prize at the 2000 Festival of New Music for
Come
to Me, for a cappella choir. He has received his fifth
consecutive ASCAP Standard Award. In 2000, he was guest
composer at the Heidelberg College New Music Festival,
Apr. 14-16 in Tiffin, OH; and held a fellowship at the
MacDowell Colony, in Peterborough, NH, June 5-July 9.
Premieres
Walking the Bar (2000), for baritone saxophone
and piano, premiered at the University of Massachusetts,
in Amherst, Nov. 2000.
Performances
In 2000,
Come to Me was sung by the Temple University
Concert Choir, Alan Harler, conducting, at Temple University,
Feb. 14; at the Association of Choral Directors of America
Conference, in Baltimore, MD, Feb. 17; and at the Sala
Jose Felix Ribas de Teatro Teresa Carreno, in Caracas,
Venezuela, May 14. The Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Fort
Meyer, VA featured David Porter and the U.S. Army Orchestra
in
Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra, Jan. 28, 2000.
Sonata for Trumpet and Piano was part of the Heidelberg
College New Music Festival, Apr. 15, 2000. Elizabeth Hainen,
Principal Harpist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, played
Starscape at Weill Hall, in New York, NY, May 14,
2000.
