Annual American Composers Update

Norman Heim

Norman Heim has retired from the University of Marlyand but continues to write and compose. Arrangements newly published by Mel Bay Publications include Classical Favorites and Folk Songs from Around the World, both for clarinet and piano.

Premieres

On July 19, 2000 in Chautauqua, NY, Preludium, for two clarinets and bassoon, received its first performance, with Heim, William Knapp, and Richard Kemper. Heim, David Chadwick, and Susan Wilson presented Tidbits, May 19, 2000 in Gaithersburg, MD.

Performances

In Constance, Germany, the Christenson Family played Sinfonie Concertante, for five clarinets, Mar. 10, 2000. The Due Boemi performers presented Incantations of Mephistopheles, for bass clarinet and piano, May 21, 2000 in Biberach, Germany.
