Annual American Composers Update
Paul A. Siskind
Paul A. Siskind has been selected by
the Monmouth (NJ) Civic Chorus, Mark Shapiro, Music
Director, for a commission for a new cantata, to be
premiered in June 2001. He also provided a choral/orchestral
arrangement of Lynn Hart's
For The Children for
the opening ceremonies of the Winter 2000 Goodwill Games
in Lake Placid, NY. He can be contacted at

Premieres
At Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater,
Celli Celesti premiered with cellists Lawrence
and Jennifer Stomberg, Apr. 2000. Siskind's Morning
Show Theme began airing on the Canton, NY North
Country Public Radio (WSLU) in July 2000. Also in Canton,
Benediction (May the Flame . . .) was sung first,
with the Unitarian-Universalist Church Choir, Nov. 2000.
Performances
In Apr. 2000, Duo-Bagatelles
was part of the Pacific Contemporary Music Center New
Music Festival, in Los Angeles, CA; and the Bakersfield
(CA) Symphony New Directions series. Salme 131
was sung by the Mindekirken Choir, James Reilly, conductor,
in Gloppen and Bodø (Nordland Musikkfestuke),
Norway, in July 2000. The World Saxophone Congress,
held in Montreal, Canada in July 2000, included Rituale,
with Craig Sylvern and Nathan Davis. Led by Daniel Gordon,
Everyone Suddenly Burst Out Singing received
a performance from the New York Area All-State Chorus,
Nov. 2000 in Syracuse, NY.
