Commissions
Voice of America has recently commissioned a work by Steven
R. Gerber for its 60th anniversary.
Premieres
Steven R. Gerber's
Serenade Concertante will premiere
in Feb. 2001 with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.
In 2001, the first performances of
Spirituals took
place at Merkin Hall, with the Concertante Chamber Players
(Jan.); and at the Library of Congress, in Washington,
DC (Mar.) The U.S. premiere of
Symphony No. 1 will
take place in September 2002 by The Louisville Orchestra.
Performances
Works heard at the Juilliard School of Music in 2000 included
Fantasy for Solo Violin (Apr.) and
Elegy on
the Name "Dmitri Shostakovich" for Solo Viola (May).
A performance of
Serenade for Strings took place
at the Wyoming Seminary, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, July 2000.
Ode for String Orchesra was performed twice in
February 2002 by National Chamber Orchestra.
