Annual American Composers Update

Michael Kurek

Michael Kurek will serve on the 2002 Classical Nominations Review Committee of NARAS for the Grammy Awards. On April 19, 2002, John Kuchanowski and Mark Wait are scheduled to premiere Kurek's Sonata for Viola and Piano.


Premieres

The Pacific Symphony commissioned and introduced That Which Remains Unspoken, October 24-25, 2001, in Orange County, CA, with Carl St. Clair conducting. Dwayne Sagen led the Vanderbilt University Wind Ensemble in the first performance of The Grand Calliope, March 31, 2001, in Nashville, TN.


Performances

At the Harlem School of the Arts, in New York, NY, Kathryn Eberle soloed in Kurek's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, March 2, 2001.
