Annual American Composers Update
Raymond Songayllo
"In addition to attending and appearing
as composer/performer at this year's College Music Society
(CMS) International Conference at the University of
Limerick (Ireland), I attended two other professional
meetings. From July 17-21, I was at Trinity College,
Cambridge (England) University for the conference "The
Esoteric Importance of Music Educating and Healing the
Spirit through Music." Immediately following this
(July 21 to Aug, 4), I performed chamber music at the
Dartington International Summer Session in Devon, England.
On August 19, I performed a solo piano recital as a
fund-raising event at the newly-established North Country
Cultural Center For the Arts, in Plattsburgh, NY. Works
by Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, Ravel and Rachmaninov
were on my program. On October 17, I performed again
on the annual noon-time series at Saint John's Lutheran
Church, Des Moines, IA, works by Beethoven and Liszt.
I continue as music director at the Unity Church of
Des Moines."
