Sharon Elery Rogers, with over 460 publications,
received her 36th consecutive ASCAP award. She has
been asked to be a workshop leader at the 2002 workshop
at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, in the spring.
She is completing a new organ collection of hymn-tune
preludes and postludes for novice organists with easy
pedaling and has many new publication contracts for
years 2002 and 2003. Recently published arrangements
include A Bit of Bach, for two or three octaves
of handchimes or handbells, from Alfred Pub.; Four
Noels, for two or three octaves of handchimes
or handbells, from Lorenz Publishers; and How Great
Thou Art, for three, four or five octaves of handbells,
from Augsburg Publishing Co. Of these, A Bit of
Bach and Four Noels were chosen by the
American Guild of English Handbell Ringers to be used
at several conferences this summer in the United States;
and by the Tom Mathis Music Center for conferences
in St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Sarasota, FL. Rogers
gave 2001 piano performances in Venice, FL, for Cecilian
Music Society (National Federation of Music Clubs)
programs at the Venice Music Teachers Program, playing
Mozart's Fantasia in C Minor and her own compositions,
January 18; and at the group's Annual Scholarship
Variety Pops Concert: Musical Showcase, February 11,
2001. She was guest organist in the summer at St.
Andrews Episcopal Church in Boca Raton, FL, and at
Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice. A graduate
of Hillsdale (MI) College and initiate of the SAI
Sigma Mu Chapter, Rogers now lives in Venice. Her

Premieres
In 2001, Come, Dearest Lord, Descend and Dwell
(Coronet/Presser), an anthem for SATB choir, had
its first performances at the Tom Mathis Choral Director's
workshop in Sarasota (January), and at the Auburn
Road Presbyterian Church choir (Pentecost). Sing
We Noel (Coronet/Presser), an anthem for SATB
choir with flute and light percussion, was presented
by workshop director Lloyd Larson in Sarasota, September
2001.
