Annual American Composers Update

Wallace De Pue

SAI National Arts Associate Wallace De Pue was notified of his 17th consecutive ASCAP award for music composition. His TTBB arrangement of Praetorius's Sing dem Herrn was heard in 2001 with The Singing Men of Ohio, R. D. Mathey, director, on the group's spring tour, March 15-24, and at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren, OH, March 25.


Premieres

On December 8, 2000, Nunc Dimittis for SATB choir was introduced by the Bowling Green (OH) State University Collegiate Chorale, Mark Munson, Director. The first performance of Christmas Eve, a processional for SATB choir and hand-held percussion, at the Peoria (IL) Civic Center Theater, with the Peoria Area Civic Chorale, Joseph Henry, Director, December 15-17, 2000, included One Little Light, for SA children's voices, SATB choir humming, piano, and harp; and A Christmas Card to Peoria, for SATB choir and organ. On August 26, 2001, at the First Methodist Church of Seguin, TX, Tod Fish, Director, premiered Psalm 150 for SATB choir and piano or organ.


Performances

The Ohio Ambassadors of Music Choir, Gene Trantham, director, toured Europe with Almighty God, Unto Whom All Hearts Are Open, for SATB choir, June 27-July 9, 2001.
