Annual American Composers Update
William Mac Davis
William Mac Davis has been appointed Chair of the Music
Theory and Composition department in the School of Church
Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in
Fort Worth, TX. For the eighth consecutive year, he
received an ASCAP Award. He is in the process of establishing
his own publishing company, Moss Rock Music, to market
his works for college bands and wind ensembles. For

Premieres
How Can I Keep from Singing? was heard first
April 10, 2001, in Fort Worth, with the Southwestern
Ontario Chorus and the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra,
with the composer conducting. Also conducted by Davis
was the premiere of Festival Fanfare on "Foundation."
May 20, 2001, in Fort Worth, with the Southcliff Brass
and Percussion Ensemble and organist Dean Morton. The
Oklahoma Baptist Symphony, under Tom Duncan, presented
The Holy City, in its fall 2001 season.
Performances
The Northern Festival of Bands Symphony Band, led by
James Croft, played Symphonic Variants on a Southern
Hymn Tune, February 10, 2001, in Cedar Falls, IA.
