Daniel David Feinsmith

Daniel David Feinsmith (born in New York City in 1966) is a composer who writes in the modern and experimental classical genre for concert hall, film, theater, and dance. The recipient of awards and commissions from ASCAP, Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley (CA) Civic Arts Commission, and the Jess Shensen Music Foundation, Feinsmith has studied Western classical composition with John Corigliano, Edmund Campion, John Thow, and Terry Riley. In three extended trips to India, he has studied North Indian classical music and vocal techniques. Feinsmith's Three Movements for Violin, Viola, Cello, and Contrabass, based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Fall of the House of Usher," was commissioned and premiered in 2001 by Pacific Film Archive Theater in Berkeley. In 2002, Feinsmith's music was heard in two new films shown in the San Francisco area, as well in the Transparent Theatre production of Eternity Is In Love With The Productions Of Time. Premieres

On October 28, 2002, the Alexander String Quartet presented Feinsmith's String Quartet No. 1, at Congregation Emanu-El, in San Francisco.
