The 2003 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 95, Number 2 Joel FeiginAmong Joel Feigin's prizewinning works, his Song of Loving-Kindness was a semi-finalist in the 2002 Tampa Bay Composers' Forum competition. The winner of two previous awards, from Speculum Musicae and Auros Group For New Music, Veränderungen was chosen in 2002 for publication in the SCI Journal of Music Scores and recording in its CD series. He currently is orchestrating his two-act opera, Twelfth Night, written at the request of the Opera Studio of Moscow Conservatory, in Russia, in preparation for its world premiere there in 2005. This will be followed by a chamber version of Twelfth Night which has been commissioned by Long Leaf Opera of Chapel Hill, NC for the 2005-06 season. In 2002, Tapestry, Feigin's concerto for French horn, violin, and piano, was heard at a Third Street Music Settlement School faculty recital, in New York, NY, September 20, and at the Bowling Green (OH) State University New Music and Art Festival, October 19.
