Mollie O'Meara
Mollie O'Meara, a free-lance composer, music instructor,
and a pianist/organist for Paradise Hills United Methodist Church
(PHUMC), is active in the Albuquerque Music Teacher's Association
(AMTA) and the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico, Inc.
Originally from Columbus,
OH, where she earned Bachelor
and Masters degrees in composition from The Ohio State University,
she has been a resident of Rio Rancho, NM since 1990. At a wedding at PHUMC, soprano Jessica Bachicha and harpist Donese Mayfield
presented Love is of God, which was commissioned for the
wedding.
Premieres
2002 premieres in Albuquerque included the Easter
anthem Rejoice, the Lord is Risen, at PHUMC with the composer
at the piano, March 31; Phantom Cat, for piano, played by
O'Meara at an AMT Student Composer program for which she was a mentor,
April 14; and Aftermath (Basta, Basta!),
for a cappella voices, sung by Quodlibet, April 21.
