The 2003 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 95, Number 2 Wallace De Pue**SAI Friend of the Arts Wallace De Pue received his 18th consecutive ASCAP Award from the Standard Awards Panel, June 1, 2001. Information about him and his work has been published in SAI's 54th annual American Music issue of Pan Pipes (Winter 2002); and in a chapter entitled "Wallace De Pue," in Bruce Pollock's Working Musicians, a new book published by Harper Collins. In honor of the church's 150th anniversary, the First Presbyterian Church of Seguin, TX, has commissioned Psalm 150. PremieresPaul Stanbery led the All Saints Church Choir in the first performance of Earth Has No Sorrow That Heaven Cannot Heal, for SATB choir, November 11, 2001, in Cincinnati, OH. A Poem, for three violins, was played first November 19, 2001, at the University of Central Arkansas with Bing Chun Liu, Ka Chon, and Amy Head. On December 10, 2001, The Winter Rose, for SATB choir and organ, premiered with William Schwepe and the Fostoria (OH) High School chorus, followed by a performance, also under Schwepe, with the First United Methodist Church choir in Bowling Green, OH, January 6, 2002. On December 22, 2001, The Dulcimer Contest, for hammered dulcimer, flute, piano, and bass viol, was introduced at Bowling Green State University. Works presented by the St. Petri Lutheran Church Choir of Toledo, OH, directed by Anne Doerfler, were Christmas for the Living Lord, for SATB choir and organ, December 23, 2001; and Jesus, Even the Thought of Thee, for SATB choir, organ, guitar, and violin (four services), March 3, 2002. An Old-fashioned Waltz, for voice and piano, was sung first by soprano Mary Black, January 10, 2002, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, in Lansing, MI. PerformancesOn July 3, 2001, Gene Trantham directed Almighty God, Unto Whom All Hearts Are Open, for SATB choir, with the Ohio Ambassadors Choir on tour at Wesleys's Chapel, in London, England. The Martin Luther College Choir on tour in Innsbruck, Austria sang the five-voice canon Sing Dem Herrn, June 27, 2001. Under David Mairs, violinist Alex De Pue and the Mid-Texas Symphony played The Fiddler's Fare, May 6, 2001, at Seguin High School.
