SAI Friend of the Arts Donald Reid Womack currently serves as Professor and Chair of Music Composition and Theory, at the University of Hawaii.

Premieres

Violin Concerto - In questi tempi di Conflitto was first heard March 28 and 30, 2003, in a performance by violinist Ignace Jang and the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra with Samuel Wong conducting. The piece was written as a response to ongoing geo-political turmoil and the events following September 11, 2001.

Performances

Sonata for Violoncello was performed in March 2003 by I-Bei Lin at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, HI. Kypros Markou led the Westmoreland Symphony in a performance of Bruner's Grove, April 5. Pearl City, for concert band, and Ode to My Socks, for mezzo-soprano and viola, were presented in April, at the Heidelberg (OH) College Festival of New Music. Soprano Judith Kellock was joined by violist Anna Womack and pianist Blaise Gryski in a performance of 23 Chinese Proverbs, July 1, at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.

Recordings

Three Blues, for piano trio; Trio Manoa's debut CD Trio Manoa. O magnum mysterium, for a cappella choir; CD Music for Wind Ensemble, Choirs, Orchestra, featuring works by University of Hawaii composers, performed by UH ensembles.
