Premieres

The Golden Spike (orchestral version) was first heard in an Oklahoma City (OK) University Symphony Orchestra concert, February 27, 2003. October 2, the concert band version of The Golden Spike (arranged by Matthew Mailman) was presented by the Oklahoma City University Wind Philharmonic. An as-yet untitled chamber piece, commissioned by SAI, was to be premiered December 5, at Oklahoma City University. David Steffens is scheduled to perform Lost Luggage, for marimba, in Mount Pleasant, MI, February 19, 2004. Suite from Night of the Comets (arr. by David Beasley), will be presented April 15, by the Oklahoma City University Symphony Orchestra.

Performances

The orchestral version of The Golden Spike was also heard April 22, 2003, by the Oklahoma City (OK) University Symphony Orchestra; the Oklahoma City University Symphony is scheduled to perform the work again, along with Granite Island, on February 26, 2004, and on March 5, for the Society of Composers National Convention. The Oklahoma City University Symphony will tour China during May 2004; its repertoire will include The Golden Spike and Suite from Night of the Comets.
