The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 H. Leslie AdamsH. Leslie Adams was honored during a "Joy in Singing Series" at a program titled "Songs of H. Leslie Adams and Arthur Farwell (1872-1952)" on February 22, 2003, at Bruno Walter Auditorium, Lincoln Center, New York, NY. A workshop titled "Challenges in Performing the Music of H. Leslie Adams" took place June 25 during the American Guild of Organists Cleveland Chapter Region V Convention in Cleveland, OH. The workshop featured Adams, poet-lyricist Joette McDonald, and ten presenters, including young artists from Lyric Opera Cleveland, (Jonathon Field, director). During July and August Adams worked on his String Quartet in D Flat (in four movements) which was completed August 8. PremieresThe art song Wave and the Shore (text by Joette McDonald) was first heard June 17, 2003, with Patricia Rhiew, soprano, and Irina Teplaykova, piano, on a Young Artists of Lyric Opera Cleveland (OH) Concert.
