The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 John Anthony LennonIn 2003, John Anthony Lennon's biography was entered into the French publication Dictionaire Universal des Compositeurs. During April and May, he was in residence at the Aaron Copland House, NY. He was a guest composer at Florida State University in April and at the Bar Harbor Music Festival, ME, in July. The year 2004 will find him in Spain for a Fundacion Valparaiso residency. PremieresGoliard's Banquet for mixed sextet was first heard May 2003, at the Hoff Barthelson School, Scarsdale NY. The solo marimba work, Let It Rain, was premiered in November at a meeting of the International Percussive Arts Society, Louisville, KY. PerformancesThroughout the year Lennon's works were heard in performance at the North American Saxophone Alliance, Region 3, Moorehead, MN; the World Saxophone Congress, Minneapolis, MN; Iserholn, Germany; Corfu, Greece; Mannes College (NY) Guitar Seminar; Morehouse College, GA; and the American Music Festival in Sacramento, CA.
