"I continue my efforts of behalf of other, younger, composers by way of the Alice M. Ditson Fund, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the ASCAP Symphony and Concert Committee, as Advisor to the Pulitzer Prize Board, and as Vice President of the newly formed Douglas Moore Fund for Opera, which will place intending opera composers and librettists in residencies at selected American opera companies."

Premieres

Under the guidance of former Met Opera coach and conductor Richard Woitach, Jack Beeson accompanied bass-baritone John Trout in the premiere of A Rupert Brooke Cycle, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, New York, NY, January 18, 2004. He will also accompany bass Kevin Maynor in the premiere of the cycle Three Viereck Songs in the new Carnegie Zankel Hall, New York, NY, later in the spring.

Performances

The opera Dr. Heidegger's Fountain of Youth, libretto by Sheldon Harnick (based on Hawthorne), was performed by the San Francisco Opera (Cowell Theatre) April 25, 27, and May 2, 4; Sara Jobin, conductor, Robin Guarino, director.

Publications

Three Viereck Songs, bass voice and piano; Boosey and Hawkes.
