The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 Joel FeiginDuring the 2002-2003 season, Feigin's Song of Loving-Kindness won top honors in the Waging Peace Through Singing competition. This same work was featured in the spring concert at Laguna Blanca School in California, where Feigin was Composer-in-Residence. Excerpts from his opera, Twelfth Night, were presented by the New York City Opera in VOX 2003: Showcasing American Composers. PremieresSix Sonnets to Orpheus (text by Rilke) received its U.S. premiere on March 11, 2003, with mezzo-soprano Tihana Herceg and pianist Margaret McDonald, at the University of California, Santa Barbara. PerformancesFirst Panel from Mosaic in Two Panels, was played April 22, 2003, by the Alma String Quartet, University of California, Santa Barbara, Festival of Contemporary Arts and Digital Media; the work was repeated in performance May 27 at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. On April 28, Veränderungen, was presented by violinist Eva Provatorova and pianist Sergei Busirev at Chamber Music Hall, Rachmaninov Society, Moscow, Russia. Further Information |
