Ziffrin recently completed a new piano piece titled Moods and is working on a chamber piece for flute, clarinet, and piano. Her Soundscape for orchestra, the first in a series, has been recorded by the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and will eventually be released on CD under the MMC label. PremieresAlmanack - 1688 was first heard in performance April 26, 2003, by the Nashua Choral Ensemble directed by Judy Greenhill, Hunt Memorial Building, Nashua, NH. Abbott's Duo, three movements for violin and alto saxophone, was introduced by Charles H. Abbott and B. Z. Abbott, on May 18, Pilgrim Congregational Church, Lexington, MA. PerformancesThe New London (NH) First Baptist Church Choir, under the direction of Jane Ann McSwiney and Mary MacMillan, was joined by narrator, flute, trumpet, chimes, bongo drums, organ, and brass quintet, in a performance of Cantata for Freedom, May 4, 2003, United Church of Penacook, NH. The same ensemble presented the work again at the Canterbury (NY) Shaker Village on August 3. Pianist Jayne Kelly performed Recurrences on May 17, at the KIMRA Performance Center in Keene, NY; on June 29, at the United Church of Penachook, NH; and on October 18 on her recital at the Annichiarico Theatre in Concord, NH. Pianist Emily Manzo performed Suite for Piano at Teachers College, Columbia University in NY; and at the University of Maine in Orono, on May 23.
