The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 Paul A. SiskindDr. Paul A. Siskind recently received tenure at the Crane School of Music, SUNY-Potsdam. He continues to serve on the NYSSMA Composition Committee, and also adjudicates regional composition contests for SCI and NACUSA. PremieresFanfaronade, was introduced in March 2003 by the Orchestra of Northern New York at SUNY-Potsdam. The Bina Piano Quartet commissioned and premiered Filial Frolic, St. Olaf College, MN, April 2003. Memoriale, co-commissioned by saxophonists Randall Smith and Matthew Patnode, was first heard at the World Saxophone Congress in Minneapolis, July. PerformancesAntiphochrome was presented in February 2003 by the University of Tennessee Saxophone Ensemble, Knoxville. Everyone Suddenly Burst Out Singin' was performed in May by The Quire, in Iowa City, IA. Several performances occured in June 2003: Counterinduction performed Duo-Bagatelles in New York, NY; Claptrap was performed by the Santa Fe New Music Youth Ensemble; and Fantasy-Variations on a Fragment by Schoenberg, was performed by pianist Jeffrey Jacob, and broadcast on National Public Radio's "Theme and Variations" program.
