The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 Ralph R. GuentherRalph R. Guenther, Professor Emeritus (flute and theory-composition), Texas Christian University, has lived for some years in Seattle, with his wife, Lavonne. PerformancesOn November 24, 2002, a program of his music was given in Seattle.
The organizer of the recital was Bonnie Blanchard, prominent flutist
and teacher in Seattle. Ms. Blanchard was also soloist upon that occasion
and, additionally, presented a number of her students in the performances
of various solos and ensembles of flute music written and published
over the past few years. The occasion was also in honor of Dr. Guenther's
88th birthday. The program included the Suite for flute alone,
Improvisation for flute and piano, and Three Moods for
five flutes in C, along with other solos and flute ensembles. Further Information |
