James Bennighof

James Bennighof’s The Juggler has been cited in a recommended boychoir repertoire list in Sound Advice by Jean Ashworth Bartle (New York: Oxford University Press, 2003, p. 246).

Premieres

Count Me In was first presented September 21, 2003, by the Aberlour House (Scotland) Senior Choir; it was also performed October 12 by the Glenalmond Choral Day Choir, directed by Robert Gower, Glenalmond College, Scotland. Bennighof’s arrangement of Nine Hundred Miles was performed January 10, 2004, by Yayoisougensha “R,” under the direction of Naoki Matsuoka in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. An arrangement of This World is Not My Home was first heard July 3, performed by the Alliance Bible Church Men’s Quartet, in Waco, TX.

Performances

The Bison Glee Club, led by John Simons, performed Oh Star on December 6, 2003, at Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee. A Sad Song about Penguins was presented in St. Louis, MO, on March 14, 2004, by the Kirkwood Children’s Chorale, and on tour in Austria during June. The Baylor University Men’s Choir, directed by Randall Bradley, performed Like the Wind on April 20, Baylor University, Waco, TX. Mister Dudley was presented May 20 by the Rye (NY) Country Day School Choir, under the direction of Peter Coulianos.
