The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Allan Blank*** A program of works by Allan Blank was presented in honor of the composer’s 80th birthday on September 19, 2005, at the Donnel Library Center, New York, NY. The program included Fantasy on Cantillation Motives, violinist Robert Menga, violist Stanley Hoffman, and cellist Kurt Behnke; Two Parables (by Franz Kafka), soprano Elinor Amlen, violinist Menga, and violist Hoffman; Esther’s Monologue, Amlen, Hoffman, Behnke, and oboist Barry Fader; Don’t Let That Horse Eat That Violin, Amlen, Hoffman, and bassoonist Clark Abrams; and Links, Menga, Hoffman, and clarinetist Alexander Negruta. Premieres Trumpeter David Greenhoe and pianist Kazou Muakami introduced Moods of Imagination on October 18, 2004, at the University of Iowa, with a second performance on October 20 at Western Illinois University. Performances Two Little Kittens was performed January 18, 2004, at Virginia Commonwealth University by the Greater Richmond Children’s Choir, under the direction of Hope Armstrong Erb. The Staten Island (NY) Chamber Music Players presented Fanfare for brass quintet on March 21, at the Staten Island Veteran’s Memorial Hall.
