The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Edmund Cionek Premieres The commissioned work Concerto for Oboe and String Orchestra (Spirit of the Lake) received its first hearing in a July 2005 performance by soloist Gerard Reuter and The Bar Harbor Festival String Orchestra, under the direction of Francis Fortier. The same month a second work commissioned by the Festival, At the Art Gallery, Part II (Water Music) for piano and percussion, was presented by the duo Synchronicity.
