The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Eugénie R. Rocherolle Eugénie R. Rocherolle was the recipient of a first place award for the piano solo Prelude: Red and a third place award for the vocal solo Where’s the Poet (text by John Keats) from the National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) 2004 Biennial Composition contest; she also received the “Sunflower Award” from the NLAPW Topeka Branch. Rocherolle presented new publications on the Warner Brothers Publishers Showcase, April 4, 2005, at the Music Teachers National Association Convention in Seattle, WA; and on the Hal Leonard Publishers Showcase at the World Piano Pedagogy Conference, October 29, in Anaheim, CA. She also served as a guest clinician for the Southeastern Massachusetts Music Teachers, New Bedford, MA, April 23, and for the Piano Teachers Forum of Central New Jersey in Lawrenceville, May 6; both were workshops on composing. The composer continues to receive the annual Standard Works awards from ASCAP. Premieres Jambalaya: A Portrait of New Orleans, a work for piano duo commissioned by the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans, was first heard July 23, 2005, Loyola University, New Orleans, LA; this annual concert is always the prelude to the opening of the New Orleans International Piano Competition. Performances Several piano and vocal works were presented November 15, 2004, at the Adult Music Workshop, Elaine Emeigh Music Studio, Centennial, CO. Arrangements of Christmas carols were featured by pianist John Sanders in a concert titled Prelude and Postlude on December 5, First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin, TX. Selections from The Way We Danced and an arrangement of April in Paris were heard in piano duo concerts by Suzanne Cox and Cary Grabar, April 2, 17, and 28, 2005, in Kingsport, TN; and on May 1, First Baptist Church, Belton, SC. Waltz for Two Pianos and April in Paris were heard April 14 on a duo piano concert at the Studio of Julie Rivers, Topeka, KS. Publications Momentos Book 2, solo piano; American Panorama, duet arrangements of folk and patriotic songs, including the commissioned work from Sheila Powers Converse, Variations on Red River Valley; both by Warner Brothers.
