The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Ellen Taaffe Zwilich* Premieres Quartet for Oboe and Strings was introduced August 22, 2004, by oboist Richard Woodhams, violinist Chantal Juilliet, violist Che-Hung Chen, and cellist John Koen at the Saratoga Chamber Music Festival, while Zwilich was Composer-in-Residence. Performances Symphony No. 3 was performed August 13, 2004, by the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Charles Dutoit; it also received performances April 9-11, 2005, from the Norddeutsche Philharmonie conducted by Peter Leonard. Episodes for Violin and Piano was presented on a concert tour by Itzhak Perlman and Rohan DiSilva, including an April performance at Symphony Hall, Boston, MA, and a May performance at Lincoln Center, New York, NY. Millennium Fantasy for piano and orchestra was heard April 8-9 in a performance by soloist Jeffrey Biegel with the American Symphony Orchestra led by Leon Botstein. Rituals for 5 Percussionist and Orchestra was presented October 22 by the Nexus Percussion Ensemble and the Florida State University Orchestra conducted by Alex Jimenez.
