The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Joseph Willcox Jenkins** Joseph Willcox Jenkins has been commissioned to write a new work for wind ensemble by the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY. The work is scheduled to premiere in 2006. Organist Patricia Wright presented the premiere of Trois Cadeaux (Op. 206) on July 8, 2005, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, PA. Trois Cadeaux (Three Gifts) was written for the 80th birthday of a close friend of the composer, who has also been the composer’s colleague for forty-five years. The resulting work is a three-movement suite for organ solo. Performances The Winged Creatures (Op. 150) was performed by organist Ann Labounsky on a May 2004 tour of the Ukraine in the cities of Kiev, Bila Tskervka, and Khmelnytsky. The organ work Confluence (Op. 190) was performed numerous times by Labounsky in Göttenberg, Sweden, July 2004; at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, PA; for the radio program “Pipe Dreams,” heard on Minnesota Public Radio, October 2004; and at Hope College in Holland, MI, March 2005.
