The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Katherine Hoover* Premieres Argentinian pianist Mirian Conti introduced Six Preludes on November 13, 2005, in a performance in Merkin Hall, New York, NY. On February 5, 2006, the New York Treble Singers gave the first performance of Incantations (based on contemporary Mayan women’s poetry) for SSAA, flute, and percussion, Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York, NY. The Colorado Quartet will perform String Quartet No.2, “The Knot,” April 6 on the Cutting Edge Series, Greenwich House, New York, NY. Performances El Andalus for cello and piano was performed by Sharon Robinson and Joseph Kalichstein on April 19-20, 2005, at the 92nd Street YMHA, New York, NY. On May 7, a concert of music by women composers, organized by pianist Elaine Held, included El Andalus and Aria and Allegro giocoso for cello and piano, several piano works, and Ritual for clarinet and piano, Unitarian-Universalist Church in Linbrook, NJ. The composer performed her Kokopeli and Masks, with pianist Susan Wheatley in Alcala de Henares, Spain, for The College Music Society on June 15. 3 + 3, Dream, and Chase, were presented by pianist Joseph Kubera on July 13 at the Festival of the Hamptons, Bridgehampton, NY.
