The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Linda Robbins Coleman***** In 2005, Linda Robbins Coleman celebrated her 30th year as a professional theatre, jazz, and “classical” music composer, her 15th year as an orchestra composer, and a dozen years as a member of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra’s Artistic Committee. Her latest orchestra suite, Lunatics and Lovers, based on her award-winning score for the 1997 Drake Theatre production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, enjoyed its premiere in Atlanta, Georgia, with Coleman in attendance. She is currently completing commissions for string orchestra, chorus and orchestra, and an overture for pops concerts. Her music is licensed through BMI, Inc. Anderson, gave the premiere performance of the symphonic suite Lunatics and Lovers commissioned to celebrate Anderson’s 25th anniversary as Music Director and the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra’s 40th anniversary. Performances In November 2005, the recording of Coleman’s chamber and solo works, Rags to Riches, was featured as “CD of the Month” by KHKE public radio station.
