The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Margaret Brouwer Composer Margaret Brouwer was awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Fellowship for the year 2005. Premieres Declarations for soprano, violin, and piano received its premiere from Lucy Shelton and the New Music Ensemble on November 16, 2005, at the Cleveland (OH) Institute of Music. Also heard at the Cleveland Institute on November 30 was Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet performed by Daniel Silver and the Cavani Quartet. The same ensemble will give an encore performance of this work during the International Clarinet Association Conference in Atlanta, GA, August 9-13, 2006. Trio, commissioned by the Verdehr Trio and Michigan State University, premiered at the University on January 22, 2006. Performances Light was heard August 6, 2005, at the Tanglewood 2005 Festival of Contemporary Music, directed by John Harbison. On October 19, Aurolucent Circles, featuring percussionist Barry Dove, and conducted by David Willey, was presented at the Cleveland (OH) Institute of Music.
