The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Michael Mauldin** You are invited to visit the composer’s website at www.mmauldin.com Premieres The Proud Light Shines on the Mountains for concert band and chorus, commissioned by Fort Lewis State College (Durango, CO) for the Mesa Verde Centennial, will be premiered March 24, 2006, at the college. Performances An SATB arrangement of Handel’s soprano solo, Oh Had I Jubal’s Lyre, was performed by the Junior High Honor Choir at the American Choral Directors Association National Convention during February 2005 in California. Flutist James Pellerite and the John Donald Robb Composers’ Symposium Orchestra, conducted by David Oberg, performed Dreams of the Child of Light for Native American Flute and String Orchestra on April 4 at the University of New Mexico. During the same symposium, clarinetist Keith Lemmons, accompanied by the composer, performed Three New Mexico Landscapes on April 6. On June 9, harpist Harriet Adie performed Birds in Winter at the Swalesdale Festival in the UK. Flutist Jean Larson Garver, oboist Erin Hannigan, and harpist Rosalind Simpson performed Mountain Winds on July 26 at the Music in the Mountains Festival, Purgatory Village, CO.
